The Tropical Angler

I hope that you've enjoyed reading my on-line book "A Basic Guide to Saltwater Fly Fishing in Southwest Florida". Please feel free to download a copy for your personal use. Also, you might be interested in my three more recent books, published in the last 4 years.

"The Technology of Fly Rods - An In-Depth Look at the Design of the Modern Fly Rod, It's History and Its Role in Fly Fishing" was published in 2000 by Frank Amato Publications Inc. This book was a personal labor of love for me, containing the knowledge gained from over 30 years of research, development and networking with the acknowledged masters in the field of fly rod design. I'm particularly proud of the positive reviews given to this book by Barry Beck, Tom Dorsey, Dave Engerbretson, Mel Krieger, Ernest Schwiebert and Doug Swisher.

"Saltwater Fly Fishing From Maine to Texas" was published in 2001, also by Frank Amato Publications Inc. Over the years I had been disappointed at the content of books available on saltwater fly fishing destinations. Too often, fly fishing "stories" have been emphasized, rather than solid information on seasons, game fish species, fly pattern recipes and local guide and tackle shop information. I designed the content of this book to fill this void, and each of the 43 professional fly fishing guides who wrote a chapter on their local area followed my specifications. As a result, this modest-sized book is packed full of information useful to the visiting fly fisherman, including nearly 275 detailed fly pattern recipes.

"Our Fragile Coastal Fisheries" is being published by Trafford Publishing. This book required 3 years of research to document and absorb all of the many forces that are threatening the health of our marine fish populations, but the resulting book has more than exceeded my original expectations. Review Comments by Lefty Kreh, Dan Blanton and others have been most complimentary. If you care about our coastal fisheries and want to know more about the reasons for their decline and what needs to be done, I believe that you will find this book to be most informative. You may order the book direct from the publisher, www.trafford.com/robots/03-2189.html.
